Amalfi Coast Day 1: Sorrento and Positano
Amalfi Coast
September 13 - 16
Lodging: Sisters Hostel, Piano Di Sorrento
Transportation: Bus, and quite a few boats
Booked Through: Bus2Alps
The bus ride from Florence down to Sorrento took around 8 hours. We arrived at about 1 am and went straight to sleep.
All my friends booked their Amalfi trips with Smart Trips, but I wanted to see what it would be like with Bus2Alps, so this ended up being a solo trip for me and I had a great time.
When we got to our room, one of the girls I was rooming with asked me if I'd been out the night before, ends up we met the previous night at the bar, so we kind of already knew each-other. Her and all her friends let me tag along with them on that weekends adventures and greatly added to my experience.
The following morning we had breakfast at the hostel and walked down to the port in Sorrento where two boats were waiting for us. The walk down and up to the port is actually quite a hike. Not for the weak or very drunk. I saw some things lol.
Here began weekend number two of cruising around on boats all day and visiting beautiful coastal towns.
The ride blessed us with beautiful views, lots of photo ops of boats and on boats, a yummy pasta lunch, a cash bar, and an opportunity to jump off the boat (but that didn't last long cause the jelly fish decided they wanted to join the party).
Once we arrived in Positano we had a few hours to kill. I spent mine relaxing on the rocky beach and soaking up the sun till it started to drizzle. In retrospect, I wish I had spent a little more time exploring the town and then bought a chair, but thats for a future trip now.
The rocks are blazing hot as well so the water felt amazing.
After a long day in the sun, we headed back to Sorrento by boat and then enjoyed a nice evening out on the town. Sorrento is a beautiful city with plenty of amazing restaurants and bars. There is a bar called English Inn that looks like a normal small bar at first glance, but if you go up the stairs to the left its a large open air bar with club vibes. A lot of fun if your in town with friends and don't have to be up early the next day.
Ciao ciao,
Aleksandra
