Throwback Thursday: Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico

Back in my senior year of high school (crazy how that was about 3 years ago) my club volleyball team had a tournament in Puerto Rico. It was such an awesome experience all around with a great team. We stayed in a hotel in San Juan about a block from the beach, and played 3 out of the 5 days that we were there. We got to see the El Yunque National Forest, where La Mina Waterfall also is, as well as several beautiful beaches and lagoons.

During our trip in Puerto Rico we got to eat lots of great food such as Mofongo and acai bowls. My love for acai bowls definitely was born here. I had one for breakfast everyday from this great little restaurant, whose name I desperately wish I remembered. The entirety of the trip was beautiful and relaxing, and shockingly resulted in no sunburns! 

A beautiful country, but just a reminder, it is still struggling in the aftermath of the several hurricanes that have hit it in the past few years.
