Milano
Milano
October 4, 5th
We spent the first weekend of October exploring Milan on a school trip. The train ride from Florence is about 2 hours. The highlight of the trip for me was getting to see Armani | Silos, which is part of the Georgio Armani headquarters. Armani | Silos is an exhibition space filled with art work as well as an archive/permanent collection of Armani's work dating back to the 80's. My favorite decade of Armani's creations were his pieces from the 90's. Absolutely stunning. If you're in Milan, I highly recommend making a stop hear to admire his work. It gave me a newfound appreciation for his company and talent.
Besides visiting Armani, Milan offers lots of beautiful sights from high end stores to great street style. I wish I had captured more photos of the fashion. The Etro Flasghip store is also a very intriguing stop. My friends introduced me to the Milan based brand last fall and I've been obsessed with it since. The way that they create and use patterns is so beautiful and eclectic. I really admire their design aesthetic. Also, any Etro store that I've visited has excellent customer service, which is always a bonus.
In comparison to the rest of Italy, Milan is the city that reminded me the most of the United States, particularly Washington D.C. But much much less conservative. Milan is extremely metropolitan and modern. A very beautiful city, but not exactly like the quintessential Italian cities that I've fallen in love with in the south. I'd love to go back for a little bit longer to soak up the city and appreciate it better. There is so much more to see, and is obviously a fashion hub. So, the likely hood that I'll end up back here at some point in my life is highly likely.
Ciao for now,
Aleksandra
